Read this quote yesterday –
“It doesn’t matter how much you do, how much you know or how much you have. What matters is how well you love.”
I felt deeply touched by it. Isn’t it so true! What are our lives governed by? I have to do this. I have to build a house. I need to get a promotion this year. I need to work hard. I have to know this. I have to read this book. I have to become knowledgeable. Is it all not revolving around achieving or accomplishing something. And this race has made us so mechanical. We work hard, we get promotions, we get nice salaries and still feel something is missing. None of this is giving us happiness. And then, we aim for a bigger goal, bigger house, bigger salary, bigger car and achieve it and still not feel happy!
What makes us happy? What is it that gives us inner happiness. Isn’t it love? We feel touched by the smallest act of kindness that somebody does towards us selflessly. Love is the most beautiful thing in this world. When you make the other person happy and touch his heart without expecting anything in return – that is love. Rest all is barter system. Love is selfless. If it gives me happiness to see you happy, that is love! Let this selfless love govern your life. Start thinking in terms of people rather than objects. Try to extend this love towards everyone. You need not be in a relationship to love someone. Always think and care about the people you come in touch with. How can they grow. What is it that would bring happiness, contentment in their lives. Try to make a difference. and this will complete you!
True..but we generally tend to forget the difference between love and affection..mostly affection is misconstrued as love..
